Addison Garner joining national tour of ‘Come From Away’

Opelika’s Addison Garner, coming off two years of starring in the national tour of “Hairspray,” is joining the national tour of “Come From Away.”

“Here’s to trading in batons for boot-cut jeans,” Garner said in a Facebook post. “I’m so looking forward to earning my wings.”

“Come From Away” tells the true story of travelers stranded in Gander, Newfoundland, in the wake of 9/11. The actors play a number of roles, and Garner will be portraying airplane Capt. Beverley Bass and other roles. (Though the cast is an ensemble cast, Jenn Colella was nominated for a Tony Award for portraying Beverley and others).

The “Come From Away” tour just came to Birmingham, and it will be in Huntsville Oct. 27-29. Other nearby dates include Columbus, Georgia, in February and in Auburn next June. Check out other tour dates here.

We had the absolute pleasure of attending “Come From Away” last night in Portland, Maine. There were a lot of very talented actors and musicians making this a memorable experience, one of the best. But you stood out above all others! Your voice, acting, dance, expressions and mannerisms are top shelf.
Thank you for giving us 100 minutes of pure captivating pleasure!
