Rachel Lockhart, a graduated of the Alabama School of Fine Arts who appeared in “Illinoise” on Broadway, is on the cover of this month’s Dance Magazine.
This month’s edition of Dance Magazine celebrates 2025’s “25 to Watch,” and Lockhart is one of them.
The Birmingham dancer graduated from the Juilliard School in 2023. In addition to her stint in “Illinoise,” Lockhart has appeared on the “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and danced with Doja Cat and the Metropolitan Opera.
She returns to ASFA lead guest classes, and ASFA students will perform a new work choreographed by Lockhart as the senior choreography performance on May 3 and 4.
Two other ASFA alumni have appeared on the cover of Dance Magazine: Current dance chair and former American Ballet Theater principal Wes Chapman in 1991 and former American Ballet Theater principal Kathleen Moore in 1987.
