Brendan Powers and Rachel Burttram.

Rachel Burttram and her husband, Brendan Powers, were both nominated today for the prestigious Carbonell Awards for South Florida theater.

The two were nominated — for Actor in a Lead Female Role and Actor in a Lead Male Role — for their performances in “A Doll’s House, Part 2” at GableStage in Coral Gables, Florida. The show was nominated for Outstanding Production. Play.

Longtime actors in Florida, the two now live in Cottondale, near Tuscaloosa, where they continue to act and teach and produce Tiny Theatre.

Burttram has appeared in the TV series “The Right Stuff” (as astronaut Gus Grissom’s wife) and “Bloodline,” and Powers’ work includes “Bloodline” and “Graceland.”

Burttram reacted to her nomination on Facebook today.

“I was moved to tears by it this morning,” she said. “As artists, we go through various ‘seasons’ in our careers … I am so humbled to be listed among this first-class list of theater-makers during this particular time in my journey.”

Winners of the Carbonell Awards will be announced at a ceremony NOv. 13 at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center in Lauderhill, Florida.
