
Coming off its annual “Holiday Spectacular,” Red Mountain Theatre Company has “Once on This Island,” “Once,” “Kinky Boots” and “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella” coming up in its beautiful new performance space.
“Once on This Island” (Feb. 11-27, tickets start at $25): The Ahrens and Flaherty musical is a Caribbean fairy tale about a peasant girl, Ti Moune, who falls in love with a wealthy boy from the other side of the island. Red Mountain Theatre was a producer of the revival of this show on Broadway, which won the Tony Award for Best Revival. The cast includes Jalyn Crosby, Dorian Fomby, Abijah Cunningham and Caprenia Anthony. Get tickets.
“Once” (April 8-24, tickets starting at $25): Based on the 2007 movie, which featured the Oscar-winning song “Falling Slowly,” the show, which won the Tony Award for Best Musical, about a young Irish musician who encounters a girl and forms a band with her. Get tickets.
“Kinky Boots” (June 3-26, tickets starting at $25): Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein’s Tony Award-winning musical, based on the movie, about a young man who reluctantly inherits his father’s failing shoe factory. An entertainer named Lola becomes the man’s inspiration as he brings the factory back to life. Get tickets.
“Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella” (July 15-Aug. 7, tickets starting at $25): A contemporary take on the timeless classic about a girl, her stepsisters, a magical night at a ball and a missing glass slipper. Get tickets.
