Birmingham’s Jordan Fisher, who originated the role of Anthony in the acclaimed and Tony Award-nominated revival of “Sweeney Todd” on Broadway, is leaving the show after June 18.
“I’ll be hanging up my Anthony hat and bidding farewell to this dark and twisted world that is Sweeney Todd which has become my home as my time with this extraordinary production comes to an end,” he said on Instagram. “The journey I’ve had portraying Anthony has been nothing sort of magical and every moment spent on that stage has been a gift.”
“Sweeney Todd” also stars Josh Groban, Annaleigh Ashford, Ruthie Ann Miles and Gaten Matarazzo.
Fisher’s other Broadway credits include “Hamilton” and “Dear Evan Hansen.” His TV work includes “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” “The Flash,” “Rent: Live” and “Dancing with the Stars,” which he won in 2017.
